ABOUT

Sonder comes from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows:
 n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
 

A sonderer is someone who realizes that each person they meet is living their own life--that there are millions of stories happenings all at once, around each other, oblivious and contained from one another. In this instance, I am the sonderer, and I intend to find these stories and share them with you. 

the sonderer is a blog about discovering Detroit and sharing do-it-yourself projects and I truly hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. Snippets of my life, like my never-ending desire for coffee and my love for running, will probably slip into my posts.
